- Killed a roach

- Ran 3 miles

- Bought 3 pairs of jeans on sale

Did I mention I RAN 3 MILES???? I'm so proud of myself. That's practically a 5K. Me, who used to believe I just wasn't cut out to run at all. I don't have any fantasies of running a marathon, but I'd love to enter a real 5K race now and actually be able to run all of it. Go me!

Then I went to the mall, where I'm pretty sure the peaches on my froyo were spoiled, but ate them anyway because I wasn't sure, and now I'm hoping they won't come back to haunt me. Didn't find boots or a coat but did buy skinny jeans. [livejournal.com profile] cynima's birthday party is tonight, and I'm really looking forward to it. I've got a new outfit and everything.

Tomorrow (if I can get up for it after partying tonight): The New York Sheep and Wool Festival. I've never been and am going with some coworkers for a beautiful fall day in upstate NY, with lots of sheep, alpacas, rabbits, and temptation to buy yarn.

I have not done one of these in awhile, but I just had to give a shout out to Trader Joe's dried peaches. OMG. These things are awesome. I will never need gummy candy ever again. Nor will I have to pay umpteen dollars a pound for candied peaches like I did at Russ and Daughters (though I still love that shop). At 99 cents a bag, these delicious, natural, vegan treats are an incredible bargain. They do have sugar added, but they're also packed with fiber and vitamin C. I need to go back and stock up. Score another one for TJ. I give them a 9 out of 10. (They lose one point for coming all the way from China. I'm sure dried Georgia peaches would taste as good.)

Not much else to tell. I did a whole lot of nothing on Saturday. Well, I did watch Fast Food Nation and Accepted -- both decent, interesting/fun flicks (repectively). FFN didn't have any sort of resolution, which was strange. I liked Accepted better than Superbad, which I also watched last week. I've been watching quite a lot of movies lately. Then on Sunday I did a boatload of shopping, had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] cynima, and had dinner with the fam. So the weekend balanced itself out.

I'm feeling rather productive because in the last few days, I have actually done a few things I have been talking about doing for the past month. I'm joining a gym, and on Thursday I have an interview for a volunteer position at the Central Park Zoo. It's a big time commitment but I've just been feeling like I need to be doing something, rather than sitting around thinking about all the things I could be doing or could have done. I hope this proactive energy actually results in something positive. Hopefully a fitter, more active, more fulfilled, and more interesting MD!

I woke up with a stiff neck this morning. I have no idea why. My mother and I had plans to go shopping and she wanted to get to the mall early, so I showered last night and went to bed with my hair damp, which I don't usually do. Maybe that contributed to it? And I did have some really funky dreams. Involving my birthday party and people showing up who I didn't remember inviting. Very realistic dreams that I almost could control, because in the dream I would think of something and suddenly it would happen, but I didn't quite realize I was dreaming either. Anyway, the point is I woke up and my neck really hurts and it's gotten worse, not better, since it started. I've only had this happen once or twice before and one of those times it was a pinched nerve that I actually *heard* get pinched. (I was brushing my hair, it was kind of freaky.) But I don't think there's anything I can do for it but put heat on it and wait it out. Of course, I don't have a heating pad. :b

My mom and I did go shopping anyway, and I bought a heck of a lot of stuff for someone who can't move their neck very well. I finally got the gray low-top Converse sneakers I've wanted forever, several new tops, and and a Nine West handbag that I have wanted for months and found for 40% off today! Very exciting.

But now I'm home and doing my best not to move my head around too much. I really hope this goes away soon.

Titian

I love that Nathan uses words that I actually have to look up. :b

Here's one I just learned:

Titian or titian - (in full Titian red) a striking red colour used by the Venetian painter Titian (Tiziano Vecellio, c. 1490 - 1576) esp for hair. -adj. (chiefly of hair) red-golden or (loosely) any other shade of red or reddish-brown. - adj. Titianesque in the manner of Titian, a combination of the richest surface and colour.

I like it. Much more romantic than "auburn" or "copper."

Today I went to the mall for shoes and some sort of wrap to wear with my dress for Elaine's wedding in two weeks. I did get a black velvet blazer and some nice, comfortable black platform sandals, which were on sale. The shoes look okay I think; the blazer I'm not sure about, I need a second opinion. But most exciting was that I got a pair of brown motorcycle boots for $38, half price! Yee-haw for doorbuster sales. :)
