Apr. 15th, 2003 05:27 pmMy mother has been working as a teacher for less than a year. She has always had the credentials and never actually taken a real teaching job because she was afraid she couldn't manage a classroom. All year her students have been horrible. They have absolutely no respect for her and treat her like crap, and of course I'd never tell her but I just don't think she is cut out for the job. These are 6th grade kids in a middle school in Queens. I know how horrible kids like that can be because I went to school with them too. Junior high school was some of the worst years of my life. I experienced threats of violence, graffitti and racism. I got called white bitch. Some girls claimed my mom hit them with their car and actually filed charges (luckily they weren't taken seriously). Anyway, I was happy as hell to get out of there and go to high school in Manhattan. In some ways I'd almost forgotten how bad it all was.
Well even though my mom has been talking about the horrors of her job for months, I've been ignoring her. Till now. It seems some kids told their parents my mother hit them or something, because those parents called the school and she is now being charged with corporal punishment. My mother has a temper, but she's not violent. And knowing what these kids have put her through I'm sure she lost her temper. But I'm absolutely certain that these kids saw a weak woman who they could control, and I'm sorry but the fact that she's white is a part of it. Now their stupid fuck parents, the same ones who were disrespectful to my mother when she called them and tried to explain that their children were behaving horribly in class, are basically telling their kids it's okay to pick on my mother and now they're trying to get her into real trouble.
I am so mad right now I could beat the fuck out of these horrible parents who teach their children no respect for authority. No I mean it I am trembling, I can taste their fucking blood!!!!
By the way, any of you who actually know my mother I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone else about this. Thanks.
