No more Connor?

How convenient! Angel gets the power to erase memories and rewrite history. Now no one on Buffy has to ever know Connor ever existed. Swell. Say, now that Angel can do that, can't he alter everything to suit himself?
Now, my question is, what did he do to Connor? He said he was going to prove his love for him, he brings the knife down and there's a big flash of light. Did he kill Connor, then go back to Wolfram & Hart to accept the deal and then rewrite history? I'm also wondering, what is that thing Lila gave him to give to Buffy, and why would someone like Lila be interested in fighting the First Evil when she's the type who would be working with it?
Good episode, though. Is Vincent Kartheiser really gone? Waaah! Maybe I'll go to Everwood for my pubescent boy fix.
Damn, I just realized Angel hasn't officially been renewed yet. I'm pretty sure it will be, but imagine Buffy and Angel ending at the same time. The book would be closed on the entire Buffyverse. Let's all contemplate that in silence for a moment, shall we?
