This morning I left early to get a manicure and pedicure before work. I went to a place called Nail Clinic on Bleeker that [livejournal.com profile] chisaiboo recommended. I managed to get both done in an hour and got to work without messing anything up! A minor miracle, yes. I usually never get manicures because I hate not being able to use my hands while my nails are drying.

Happiness is the sugar sludge at the bottom of your coffee cup.

Everyone can tease me about the Sean Biggerstaff pics... but if wanting Sean is wrong, well, we can just add that to my list. :-) Maybe I should plan a stop in Glasgow after all.

-MD, who will hopefully find herself an alternate Scotsman if the Sean thing doesn't pan out

*EDITED for the billionth time TO ADD: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson say they're still on board for Harry Potter Movie #4!! This article is too friggin cute: http://www.msnbc.com/news/943721.asp?cp1=1

Sex and the City is filming down the street from my office again, and while I have never actually seen any of the stars filming, this is a regular occurence. I was thinking how it would be cool to see Kim Cattrall or really any of them walking around, and then it hit me: David Duchovny is going to be on Sex and the City. I don't know for how long or how big a part, but that means David Duchovny could be walking around my neighborhood. If I ever met him, what the hell would I say?

"Evolution?! You left X-Files for Evolution??!"

I think all my college friends would absolutely die if I ever met him. They would probably tell me I should be out pacing the streets right now. Of course I'd also have to mention the commune. Not that most of the people who are reading this know what the hell I'm talking about. The commune needs a web page.

Apartment

Tonight I looked at a studio apartment owned by one of my parents' friends. It's a decent sized place in Forest Hills, in good shape and in a doorman building. The location couldn't be better (for Forest Hills), it's right near all the trains, movie theaters, shops and restaurants but on a quiet residential street. The price also fits my budget pretty well and is about what I thought I'd be paying anyway ($850). Best of all, there's no broker fee. The downside is that it's on the first floor and so the window has a protective gate on it. And there's only one window. Aside from it being basically right on the street, it's a great place. The other thing is I'd have to move in by the end of next month, which would be kind of hectic. What's really weighing on my mind is that this is the first apartment that I've looked at in my apartment search, and of course I thought I'd be looking at lots of them. Is it bad for me to take the first apartment I see, even if it's a really good deal? It'd be a year-long lease. Also, do you think it's dangerous for a young single woman to take a studio with a window on the street, even if there's a locked gate on the window, and it's a good neighborhood and there's a doorman down the hall? Should I stick to the original plan and look at lots of different apartments after I get back from Scotland? Or is this an offer I can't refuse? Right now I'm leaning toward taking it. (Or at least saying I want it -- I have to pass muster with the co-op board first.) But I want to hear people's opinions.
