It's official - I have been declared a PUBLIC HEALTH MENACE! Exact words used by the nurse practitioner (who is apparently still a "Dr.", I don't get it) who said he couldn't *let* me go to work today. My strep test came back "neon positive." Which was surprising to me, because I don't even feel that bad. I've felt worse and not had strep, and I always thought strep totally laid you out. I could go into the gross-out details of my throat pus, but I won't. I will, however, have to be on penicillin, AGAIN, this time for 10 days! Good thing I went to the doctor when I did, because at least that means I'll be done with it by the time I leave for my tour. But what gives? They said I've probably been carrying the strep around for awhile. If that's true, why didn't my last round of penicillin (for the abscess) knock it out? Mysteries. Oh well, I guess my Labor Day weekend is starting a day early. For the next two days I vow to do as little as possible. I think I can do that.
