Live for today?
May. 11th, 2005 01:11 pmI got a good night's sleep last night thanks in part to my little zen water fountain that I never thought I'd use again. Looking for that white noise machine last night I came across it, and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately, both my mom and my brother are sick now. I'm sorry!
I think this Today show "Live for Today" series is a whole lot of crap. I don't really understand it. Are we supposed to be living in the moment or living for these "live for today" moments? And how is finding a long-lost friend in the same category as skydiving or whale-watching? The series would be a lot more interesting and inspirational if it was actually about people who live in the moment, who seize the day and are so content with their daily lives that they don't feel the need to live for their vacations, instead of being about people's stupid little one-shot goals just to say they did something. The segment today was about a woman who lived in Montana who always wanted to go on a whale watch. So she went to Monterey Bay and went on one. That's a live for today moment? Living for today, to me, would be more like going back to school to become a marine biologist. I know all about living for vacations, living for moments. I want to actually live for my daily life for a change. That's what living for today means to me. I have to say though, I had a pang of jealousy when I saw the marine biologist who guided the whale watch. What a great job, to go out and look for whales every day. Between that and this book that
abbagirl recently posted about, I've been feeling my marine biologist leanings a lot recently. I kind of wish I had pushed myself more when I was in school, rather than just decided I was not a science person. I am definitely more a words person than a scientist, but maybe I should have tried harder. I wonder if there is any way for me to have a job in that kind of field without being a scientist.
There's a new cover of Roxette's "Listen to Your Heart" on the radio. Does anyone know who sings it? It's not as good as the original of course, but I need to know who's singing before I declare it complete blasphemy.
