Because I really need something to distract myself, here is a really long quiz.

What's the last thing you ate?
A cup of coffee and a small piece of jelly donut.

What's your favorite cheese?
Ooh, I like pretty much all cheese, it's hard to pick a favorite. I guess cheddar is an all-around favorite.

What's your favorite fish?
Salmon. Fresh, smoked, raw, but not canned.

What's your favorite fruit?
Not so big on fruit. You can't beat a really good plum though.

When, if ever, did you start liking olives?
Probably not till my preteens. It took awhile to get used to the green pimento-stuffed ones.

When, if ever, did you start liking beer?
Not till I was 20 or so, when I went to London. Then I got to try really good beer and not fraternity keg piss.

When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish?
I always liked shrimp and stuff. I don't remember ever not liking shellfish really.

What was the best thing your mum/dad/guardian used to make?
My favorite thing my mom made was macaroni and cheese casserole with Velveeta and Prego. Sounds very white trash I know but I still love the stuff.

What's the native specialty of your home town?
I live in New Yawk City. Bagels and lox all the way!

What's your comfort food?
Macaroni and cheese, especially the way my mom makes it.

What's your favourite type of chocolate?
Chocolate frosting. :-)

How do you like your steak?
Don't really care for steak, but I prefer it bloody.

How do you like your burger?
Medium rare, but I usually just say medium.

How do you like your eggs?
Poached or soft boiled with the whites fully cooked and the yolk partly solid and thick but not runny.

How do you like your potatoes?
Mashed with garlic.

How do you take your coffee?
Sweet with milk or cream.

How do you take your tea?
Plain, sometimes with sugar.

What's your favourite mug?
My Fat Witch mug or my Buffy mug.

What's your biscuit or cookie of choice?
Chocolate chip with nuts, gooey and warm.

What's your ideal breakfast?
A little of everything: French toast preferably, with eggs, scrambled or poached, some bacon or sausage, and lots of syrup. And OJ or grapefruit juice.

What's your ideal sandwich?
Tuna with avocado and cheese. Or chicken salad, minus the cheese.

What's your ideal pizza (topping and base)?
Sweet sauce, thin but not burnt crust, melty cheese, with fried eggplant, onions and/or mushrooms.

What's your ideal pie (sweet or savory)?
Entenmann's coconut cream pie or quiche.

What's your ideal salad?
Spinach with bacon and blue cheese, seeded tomatoes, avocado, yellow peppers.

What food do you always like to have in the fridge?
Leftover pasta, mayo, cheese, eggs, milk.

What food do you always like to have in the freezer?
Seabrook Farms creamed spinach, breaded fish fillets.

What food do you always like to have in the cupboard?
Pasta, Campbell's cream of tomato soup and cream of mushroom soup, tuna fish, cereal.

What spices can you not live without?
Garlic, some kind of hot sauce, thyme.

What sauces can you not live without?
I like the sauce I make out of cream of mushroom soup.

Where do you buy most of your food?
At Key Food.

How often do you go food shopping?
Serious shopping happens once every two or three weeks, with smaller trips happening sometimes a couple of times during the week.

What's the most you've spent on a single food item?
Probably on fish. $6-8.

What's the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own (excluding "white goods")?
I'm guessing "white goods" are the fridge and stove? Then it would be my Cuisinart, which costs about $200.

What's the last piece of equipment you bought for your kitchen?
A big vegetable cutting knife.

What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without?
The fridge is pretty necessary.

How many times a week/month do you cook from raw ingredients?
Not as often as I'd like. Once a week I guess.

What's the last thing you cooked from raw ingredients?
The babaganoush and the vegetable soup I made last week were all from raw ingredients.

What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig and poultry?
I've had venison, buffalo, lamb, and all manner of shellfish.

What's the last time you ate something that had fallen on the floor?
Well yesterday at the restaurant my fork fell on the floor and I implemented the 5-second rule.

What's the last time you ate something you'd picked in the wild?
In the *real* wild, possibly never. But at Lisa's house we use the plants that grow naturally on the lawn in salads.

Boston Market, side item dinner with stuffing, spinach or squash, and green beans.

New Orleans! Beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde, crab cheesecake and duck at The Palace, crawfish etoufee and bread pudding at Pat O'Brian's.

What's your choice of beverage at the end of a long day?
A bottle of Bass or a glass of wine.

What's the next thing you'll eat?
Probably my words. I don't know. This was a funny quiz to pick considering that I've opted for starving myself today.
