What happened to my Halloween spirit?

nycmermaidI am completely, totally uninspired and even uninterested in dressing up as anything for Halloween this year.
This will be the first Halloween in a very long time that I don't have Halloween party to go to, or a coven ritual to help me feel like a real witch on Halloween. Nuthin'. I may go to the public Ara rit on Sunday, and I will probably still do my own Halloween ritual, but...I am just not in the spirit this year.
It would be nice, though, to get some actual trick or treaters this year. Last year I got none! And I live in an apartment building on the first floor. Maybe there just aren't a lot of kids in my building? Maybe parents are so cautious nowadays that they don't let their kids knock on the door of anyone they don't know? I remember going all throughout my large apartment building when I was a kid. Yeah you never know who will be unfriendly or creepy, but you make sure your kids' candy is wrapped and doesn't have any razors poking out of it and generally I'd say you're okay.
Still, it would be fun to actually bake cookies or cupcakes or some other special homemade treat and give them out to trick or treaters instead of buying overpriced bags of "fun-sized" candy at the drug store. But even if anyone does knock on my door, they will be accompanied by overprotective parents who will think I have cyanide in my cupcakes. Sigh. What a world.
Still, if I can find my Ren Faire horns, I think I will wear them Monday morning. And if anyone looks at me funny, I will stick my tongue out at them.
